Annapurna range is the most exquisite, with some of the world's highest mountain views including Annapurna I (8,091m / 10th highest). While the foothills are dominated by diverse ethnic groups with their charming villages and terraced farms, higher reaches are pristine roved only by shepherds. We will come across several viewpoints with world-famous Himalayan views. The trekking is the best insight into the Nepalese mountain lifestyle, ethnic diversity, and a moderate adventure in the Himalayas.

Feel high when you reach mountain particularly Experience walking through villages, camps, forests, hills, and snow to reach the majestic view of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and most significantly, the Machhapuchhre Peak.

From Pokhara, a two-hour drive towards Kande brings us to the start point of  Annapurna Base Camp Trek. We pass through the small village and climb up to the Australian Camp, and later continue towards Low camp, forest camp, and High Camp for the next few days.

Traveling Programs: 

Travel itinerary:

Our journey consists of two parts - the outer and the inner path. Externally, we will go trekking in the mountains and sacred places of Nepal. But internally everyone goes on his journey towards the present.

Day 01:  Arrive in Kathmandu  (1350m) / Transfer to Hotel

Meeting at the airport, rest. Festive dinner, acquaintance, lecture on safety in the mountains.

Day 02: Getting to know Kathmandu - the city of temples:

Meditation - setting for the trip. Breakfast. Walking through the city beautiful World Heritage Sites - Kathmandu Durbar Square, Shiva Pashupatinath Temple, Buddhist Bodnath Stupa, Swayambhunath Monastery, to better understand the history and culture of Nepal. evening in Thamel (central market) - dinner and purchase of equipment. We will pack and prepare for the journey the next day. 7-hour bus ride to Pokhara. .Overnight in Kathmandu

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara (910m)(6-7 hours)

We leave early in the morning from Kathmandu and make our way along river valleys,  enjoying the wonderful view of hills and rural villages. Being a mountainous country will experience the drive over winding roads with a steep drop on one side pass terraced fields to Pokhara which takes about 6-7 hours drive.  Overnight stay in Pokhara.

Day 4:  Pokhara

Walk around the city, surrounded by snowy peaks, preparation for trekking, evening body practice.

Morning meditation + yoga by the lake. boat trip on Phewa Lake, half-day trekking to the World Stupa, Shiva Temple on the island.

Moving to the monastery - acquaintance with the Lama, meditations, and immersion in the life of monks. Nightlife in the monastery.

TRACKING AND CAMPING

- Part of the route - 8 days, 4-5 hours of tracking per day (light, without heavy backpacks)

- Accommodation: Guest House / Camping  

Day 5: Pokhara drive to Kande and trek to Tokha(1790m/5873ft),

30 minutes drive and walking distance 4–5 hours
We will wake up early in the morning after breakfast will Start our Journey via taxi to Kande and start climbing  5 hours in, will be passed through Australian camp (where will have lunch. The trail climbs to the rhododendron forest and passes to Pothana (1990m). The view of Machhapuchhare (6997m) is excellent from here, except that from this angle it looks more like Matterhorn than a fishtail. The trail emerges in the main Modi Khola valley and reaches Tolka. Overnight Staying at Tolka.

Day 6: Tolka trekking to Chhomrong (2040): Walking distance 5–6 hours
After breakfast, we will be working through nice terraces to Landruk a beautiful Gurung village provides you excellent view from Landruk trail continues to Jhinu. Very almighty rhododendron forests and fine terraces went passing through our trail to the Chhomrong village. Above the village is the mighty peak of Annapurna South with the Mt. Fishtail, facing it across the valley. Chhomrong is a beautiful village with lots of Lodges providing good facilities. Chhomrong is a gateway to Annapurna Sanctuary trek and inhabited by Gurung, one of the major ethnic groups of Nepal.

 

Day 7:Chhomrong trekking to Dovan (2540m/6693ft): walking distance 6 hours
Leaving Chhomrong, the trail descends via a stone staircase and crosses the Chhomrong Khola on a swaying Suspension bridge. Then climb out of the side valley passing through deep forests of bamboo, rhododendron, and oak. The portion of the day’s trek follows another ascent to Kuldi (2470m). Descend a long, steep, slippery stone staircase into a deep bamboo and rhododendron forest to the village of Dovan.

Day 8: Dovan trekking to Machhapuchhare Base Camp (3700m/12139ft): walking distance 6–7 hours
A trek of narrow Modi Khola valley brings us almost to the base of M.B.C. There’s technically no such thing as ‘Machhapuchhare Base Camp’ since ascents of the mountains are prohibited. The mountain views are stunning; the panorama includes Hiuchhuli, Annapurna ranges, and the ever-changing Machhapuchhare. This area is called the Annapurna sanctuary since it is totally surrounded by mountains. A huge amphitheater enclosed by a solid wall of snow-capped peaks which include Annapurna I, Annapurna III, and the fishtail spire of Machhapuchhare. 

Day 09: Machhapuchhare Base Camp Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m/13550ft) and back to Dovan

The climb to Annapurna Base Camp takes under two hours. You descend a small ridge branching out from the mountain pass to mountainside with widespread terraced fields showcasing tranquil meadows and lush fertile farming land. As we reach Annapurna South Base Camp, witness awesome picturesque landscapes, majestic panoramic view of snow-capped mountainous peaks, and varied Himalayan cultural settings tucked beneath the southern slopes of the Annapurna massive. Tremendous Annapurna Range stops your heartbeat for a while; a whole day without rest chill out around to explore ABC. In the end, we will drop down back to Dovan for the night.

Day 10: Dovan trek to Jhinu hot spring (1760m/5774ft) 

Walking distance 6–7 hours

Ascend on a long, steep, slippery stone staircase from the village of Dovan. Climb out of the side valley passing through deep forests of bamboo, rhododendron, and oak to Chhomrong, from here steeply down trek more 45 minutes take to you Jhinu, where you can enjoy the natural hot spring small polls near Modi Khola. 
 

Day 11: Day 7: Jhinu hot spring trekking back to Pokhara Via Jhindu Dada: Walking distance 6–7 hours

Today we will walk the down part of the trail mostly flat with spectacular mountain views. Traverse high above the river on a wide stone-paved trail to a large and prosperous town Birethanti (1000m). We continue our walk to Nayapul and catch a private vehicle to get to Pokhara. 

Day 12: Free day in Pokhara

- Paragliding with views of the Himalayas (optional), massages, walks, buying gifts, in the evening - the final art practice (to realize and assign experience in the mountains), a festive dinner.

Day 13:  Transfer to Kathmandu (6 hours),

walk around the city, end of our journey.

Day 13: transfer from Lumbini (7 hours)  

The birthplace of the Buddha, the holy city of Buddhist temples. Meditation and meeting with monks. Let's make a pilgrimage to the Maya Devi Temple, the Burmese Monastery, the Golden Temple of Myanmar, the monasteries of the Theravada tradition, and the Mahayana monasteries.

 Day 14: A plane to your Birthplace returning home.

All Travellers attending the 10 days course observe "noble silence" — that is, the silence of body, speech, and mind. Silence is observed for the first nine full days. On the tenth day, speech is resumed as a way of re-establishing the normal pattern of daily life. Continuity of practice is the secret of success in this course; silence is an essential component in maintaining this continuity.

The morning will begin with meditation and setting for the day. And in the evening there will be time for silence and the opportunity to put impressions and thoughts for the day, ask yourself those questions, which are often not enough time in the city. We will switch from constant analysis to living the moment, to the feeling of happiness within ourselves. Let us listen to the voice of your soul. And we will answer the deepest questions: Who are we and what are we striving for? Are we able to listen to our inner voice and relentlessly go our own way? What is our strength? What do we broadcast to the world and what message do we want to convey to people through our activities? Do we perceive others without evaluations, openly and lively? And how can one feel this clarity of thoughts and inner harmony in ordinary life, in the city?

Accommodation and Meals

 

Accommodation and meals:

During the trip, we will live in hotels in Kathmandu for 2 nights and in Pokhara for 2 nights. The rest of the night, we will stay in guest houses in the villages along the route. Perhaps, we will spend the night 1-2 days in the monastery, plunging into an atmosphere of harmony and silence. Accommodation 2-3 people in the room. Comfortable accommodation, shower in the rooms. Meals will be in the checked places on the route As well as the conductor Raul will be happy to prepare for us traditional dishes of local cuisine and talk about the properties of Oriental spices.

What To Pack For Annapurna Base Camp Trek

  • Hiking Cloths: The sun is strong and you will be sweating a lot while hiking so I would recommend something light and breathable like a weather-proof outer-shell jacket together with a fleece jacket and a regular shirt inside. Here are jackets I recommend you get for the trip: fleece jacket and the beautiful orange Columbia outer-shell jacket.

  • Teahouse Clothing: When you are idle, you will need something that can keep you warm. A big down jacket is recommended for when you are in the teahouse. Most teahouse's bedrooms are NOT equipped with a heater so you will definitely need a good down jacket.

  • Head Lamps: Important in the early mornings and in case you have to hike at night (I do not recommend this). Here is a headlamp I use during this hike: Ultra Bright Cree Headlamp.

  • First Aids: Bandages in case of blisters, Tylenol for headaches, Diamox for Altitude Sickness etc.

  • Sunglasses: The sun is extremely strong up there.

  • Buff: To warm up air before you breath in to prevent the nasty case of Khumbu Cough afterward.

  • Wet Wipes: The next best thing from actually having a shower in the mountains. You will thank yourself for it after 10 days of not showering.

  • Good Sturdy Shoes: Make sure you have waterproof sturdy shoes in case of rain. Break into your shoes first if you bought a new one. You wouldn't want to be the hikers with blisters all over his/her feet at the end of the trek. This Timberland Shoes is my go-to hiking boots in most situations and I recommend you carry high ankle shoes like the Columbia Newton Ridge shoes just in case.

  • Money: Get enough cash out in Pokhara for all the days you are trekking as they are no way you will be able to get money out along Annapurna Base Camp trek.

  • Sleeping Bag: Bedrooms in teahouses can get really cold at night and there's nothing worse than not being able to sleep after an 8-hours hike day. I would recommend getting the -10°C one in either Thamel, Kathmandu or Pokhara. I got mine in Pokhara and still using it today (2019). You can also get the Coleman North Rim Sleeping Bag online prior to your trip.

  • Toiletries: Wet wipes, tissue papers, toothbrush, toothpaste, sunscreens, lip balms etc.

  • Snacks: Prepare some snacks to Treat yo self so you don't have to buy an overpriced Snickers bar up there. You deserve it!

  • Get Maps.me: Download Maps.me app on your phone and download the Nepal map for offline navigation. They do have the trail map available and it's quite accurate. The app is available on both Android and iOS.

  • Large Backpack (60+L): And of course, a backpack big enough to fit all these stuff so you can carry up the mountain. I highly recommend the 65L Osprey Atmos AG Backpack with their mesh grid back support that makes your backpack lighter, a good capacity to carry everything you need for you trip, and you can't beat the Osprey lifetime guarantee.

What To Pack

OUR PAST TRAVEL 

In February 2019, the team and we went up to a height of 3200 meters. We passed the popular Himalayan track - Poon Hill. And although it was very cloudy at dawn at the highest point, during the descent we already saw the whole amazing panorama of mountain ranges! In the end, it was incredibly difficult to say goodbye to the mountains and return to the city.

 IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  1. If this is your first time visiting such high altitude places, consult a doctor first to check for any medical condition which may prove problematic. Usually, it is not an issue if you are generally healthy but better to be safe than sorry as people with some medical conditions like BP, respiratory and cardiac issues may face some problems.

  2. Travel programs in the mountains not necessarily would always run exactly as scheduled. Allow for unplanned long days or early camps due to weather disruptions or similar causes.

  3. There are places with limited communication possibilities and/or medical facilities nearby on this route.

  4. Participants should be prepared for cold conditions with strong winds and high wind chill factor.

  5. Any additional expenses which might occur due to delays, weather disruptions, medical evacuation, etc. would need to be borne by the participants. All overstay due to weather disruption, roadblocks, and similar which are not under our control would be charged as per tour cost for planned days.

  6. All participants are recommended to have travel insurance that covers trekking and wilderness travel.
